SCVMC Child Life Services

The Santa Clara Valley Medical Center Child Life Team educate children about medical procedures, so the pediatric patient knows what to expect. They also coordinate play, arts-and-crafts, and entertainment activities so that kids have opportunities for creativity, self-expression and fun. Certified Child Life Specialists are here to support children and families through this experience by responding to their psychosocial, developmental and educational needs. Child life specialists provide family and patient centered care throughout the hospital, including Pediatrics, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and regional Burn Center. These items will help us continue to provide a comfortable, therapeutic and familiar environment for our patients. By being able to gift these children with their own items, we are reminding them that they are loved and cared for, even through the kindness of strangers. It also shows in a time of such adversity, that there can still be some normalcy and fun. Any contribution helps and is greatly appreciated!
