In the case of books, I welcome unprotected, DRM-free e-books in place of hard copies. Since I prefer to own books rather than have them on loan from companies that might choose to delete them, I'd rather not deal with vendor-specific e-books protected by DRM. Unprotected PDFs, EPUBs, and MOBIs gratefully accepted.

Many items on this list are things I will never purchase for myself absent an unexpected financial windfall. Others I may one day buy if I scrape together the funds and don't need to use them for something else. Part of the reason I maintain this list is to give me a way to act on my desire for things without actually spending any money, since the money I can safely spend on things I want but don't need is quite limited. These are all things I would like to have but can't say I need.
