Welcome to my Pet Gift List
We adopted our sweet 2 year old dobe Saoirse (Ser-sha) from a rescue. We were horrified as we were not made aware of the poor condition she was in when we picked her up. We have reason to believe that she was unfortunately neglected in the care of this rescue. Her ribs and spine were profoundly prominent. She had dry raised lesions and odd wounds all over her head. Her skin was flaky, yeasty and ears dirty with thick black buildup. When we brought her home, we stayed up past midnight into the early morning to make sure she was not clawing and chewing herself until she bled. She was leaking blood and pus from her vulva. Saoirse was starving and constantly looks for food. We took her to my vet the very next day to investigate the wounds and get her fitted with an e-collar and discovered she had lost 5 lbs from the rescue's recorded weight the week prior. Her wounds were highly suspected as bite wounds from another dog. She was sedated to investigate further, skin scrapings were done, prescribed ear meds, probiotics and antibiotics.
Saoirse now has a loving home with a full belly and all the beds she can lounge on. Our plan to put her on insurance is null to receive coverage as she is still in the waiting period and now that these clinical signs are pre-existing conditions. We need help with her veterinary care costs as well as other quality expenses to make sure she is comfortable especially through the Canadian winter.
It was very difficult to create this page as we never ask for money, but we had to face reality that we are going into serious debt for the first time in our lives. We are scraping by significantly draining our savings accounts to pay for food, hydro, meds/vitamins, and house maintenance. We love Saoirse as much as we love our other guys. Our pets are family and we will do anything for them to keep them fed, sheltered, happy and healthy. Anything little amount helps. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
