When you know, you know! Ian and Ivory ~officially~ met in 2012, at Ivory's Going Away Party, a week before she was set to move to North Carolina. After only knowing one another for a short time (I'm talkin' like, a week), both had the feeling that the potential relationship was important and worth pursuing--no matter how inconvenient the timing. One month and about 4,000 miles on the car later, they were living in their first apartment together, back in Cincinnati, and it's been smooth sailing ever since!
Was it love at first sight?
Not quite! About a year and a half before they officially met, Ivory and her friend Devon were shopping at Target, when Ian (who worked there at the time), came up and started talking to Ivory about a band t-shirt she was wearing, totally unaware of the fact that she was holding a bunch of underwear and feeling very awkward. When they left, Ivory said to her friend, "That guy was really weird" and Devon replied, 'You'll probably get married'.
How and where did the proposal go down?
Ian had talked to Ivory's aunt and formulated a plan to ask her at just the right time, at her family's big Christmas Eve dinner where they had had their first date 5 years earlier. After the family said grace, Ian stood up and proclaimed he had an "announcement". He then dropped to one knee, and popped the question. Ivory was so caught off guard, all she could think to say (to the amusement of all her relatives) was, "Wait, are you serious?"
where do you see yourselves in the future?
Ian and Ivory both have a wide array of skills and interests and dream of being their own bosses. Their immediate plans are to continue pursuing their creative endeavors, while keeping the door open to new opportunities. Both have a strong connection to the world of wellness and nutrition and plan to delve further into these interests over the next couple of years. Eventually, they would like to be self-sufficient, with their own homestead.
