An outdoor mama cat kept coming to me for food- constantly. I soon learned why: she was pregnant. Missy gave birth outside, after weeks of trying, I was finally able to bring her and her 6 kittens inside to safety before the weather got too cold. I could not find any fosters. Everyone I spoke with said adoptions were down and they had no room. I get it & I have even more respect for all the loving people who rescue, foster, advocate, and socialize these animals who deserve our help. Big Thanks to Midge Touson who connected me with Felicia from Summit Animal Rescue Org. who is helping with vaccinations, spaying & neutering.
Two babies faced serious medical emergencies, one with Feline Panleukopenia and another with FIP Feline Infectious Peritonitis but with immediate & excellent care from Dr. Kuk, Rachel and others at VEG ER, Short Hills NJ, Mila, short for Milagro which means Miracle, after 5 days of hospitalization Mila recovers. Her brother Duncan was not doing well & was seen by Dr. Markowitz, VMD who did an x-ray and said his lungs are full of fluid and in very dire condition. It was either euthanize or take him to the hospital. One look at Duncan and his sweet self, there was only one action and that is to give him every chance to survive. I want to give credit to Eclipse Specialty & Emergency located in Whippany NJ, Dr. Cordero drained the fluids, gave Duncan the immediate treatment necessary for him to survive or he would have surely died that night. I have him separate in a large dog cage where I can medicate, and more closely monitor until he beats this awful virus. Duncan is not fully recovered but it is my expectation he will! I am covering medical care, medications, food, litter and daily supplies, and the needs are ongoing. Any support through this My Gift List- or even sharing- helps gives this little family the chance they deserve.
