Oh, hi there! I decided to create a gift list as a means to share the types of toys and clothing that most align with my understanding of child development. Children today are overwhelmed with toys, much in the way their parents are overloaded with other home goods. Wyatt already has a full playroom! As I clear out the toys that he has outgrown, I desire to replace them with timeless, well-made toys that will fuel his imagination for years to come. I want to say first and foremost, that I am the biggest fan of secondhand items, gently used toys and handmade things. Some of the gifts requested can be found on FB Marketplace or other secondhand vendors. I hope, as Wyatt gets older, that he comes to understand and appreciate that gifts come in many forms. The gifts we are requesting for Wyatt this year are in a similar vein to what we requested last year. Lots of book suggestions, some clothing and decor to beautify his room. The toys include some that he can use to "work" with mommy around the house. And lastly, Ostheimer wooden figures. We are starting our collection of these beautiful toys that we will continue to request over the next five years or so. I have focused on the farm collection to start and I will use them to help him learn about animals and when singing songs like Old MacDonald and Baa Baa Black Sheep. As he gets older, he will take them into all variety of his own imaginative play. Ostheimer toys and wooden toys in general do not lose their value and in some cases, gain value. They will be cherished by us; and when Wyatt outgrows them (beyond Kindergarten), they may be re-sold, where they will continue to imbue magic into other children's lives. Wendy suggested saving the toys for Wyatt's children and I think that is also a wonderful plan for their future. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Much love,
Naomi, Marc and Wyatt
