The Talek River jumped its banks shortly after sundown on 13 June, rising at the shocking rate of 8 feet/hr. Everyone was safely rescued, but it happened so fast that camp was badly flooded, and we lost a fantastic amount of stuff, ranging from books, food and shoes to tents, car parts and very expensive pieces of scientific equipment. For more of the story, please visit our camp blog, http://msuhyenas.blogspot.com/, which has compelling entries by the students who experienced the flood themselves.
To help camp recover, we have developed a "wetting" registry to replace lost or ruined items. If you can manage it, we would be deeply grateful for your help as we attempt to rebuild camp and resume normal data collection from our beloved hyenas.
Thanks very much,
Kay
