Must-Have Items for Your Twin Baby Registry

Must-Have Items for Your Twin Baby Registry

Help, I’m expecting twins! What should I know before making my twin baby registry?

Yay, you’ve got two little humans on the way! But also ahhh! What on earth should you be putting on your baby registry for two babies?

Expecting twins can certainly make putting together a baby registry a bit more challenging. When I was pregnant with twins, I initially had my older sister (who was already a mom) help me put together the bare bones of my registry.

But I felt like there were some important gaps missing. And no fault of hers, but since she only ever had singletons, she simply couldn’t offer the perspective of what would be needed for two newborns at once.

So then I decided to talk to another twin mom I knew who gave birth to her duo a few months prior. And she spilled all the tea on what I would need two of versus what wasn’t actually helpful when bringing home two babies. I also checked out the helpful links on Twiniversity.com and got even more insights that helped me put together an A+ twin registry.

So if you’re stressing over preparing your home for your twins, keep reading to learn the must-have items you’ll want on your twin baby registry, according to the #1 twin parenting network, Twiniversity.

Diapers

Diapering for twins can feel like a colossal undertaking. According to twin expert Natalie Diaz, newborn twins go through upwards of 140 diapers per week (that comes down to about 20 diapers per day). That’s a lot of diapers y’all. That’s why we recommend going with the best of the best: Pampers.

Pampers diapers are famously reliable when it comes to being leak-proof. But more importantly, the sticky tab that goes across to secure the diaper is durable and allows you to re-fasten the diaper when needed. Unfortunately these tabs end up breaking or not maintaining their stickiness with lots of other brands—which leads to you having to throw out unsoiled diapers. Definitely not helpful for twin parents who are using diapers all day long.

Expert twin registry recommendation: Since it’s a crap-shoot knowing how big your babies will be when they’re born, we suggest registering for size 1 (since some newborns quickly outgrow size 0).

Another huge consideration for twin parents is cloth diapers. Over the course of raising your twins, it’s not unheard of to spend a total of $8,000 on disposable diapers alone.

For that reason alone, cloth diapers can be a game-changer for twin parents. And unlike disposable diapers, cloth diapers come with snaps that allow the diaper size to adjust as your babies grow.

Here are our top two cloth diaper recommendations for twins:

What are must-have registry items for your twins’ nursery and sleep time?

Onesies and Footie Pajamas

Keep your newborn twins cozy and stylish with Copper Pearl Baby footie pajamas. Made from ultra-soft, breathable fabric, these pajamas provide ultimate comfort for delicate skin while ensuring easy movement. The convenient two-way zipper makes diaper changes a breeze, and the built-in footies keep tiny toes warm. Available in a variety of modern, adorable designs, they’re perfect for matching or coordinating your little duo in comfort and cuteness.

Infant Optics Baby Monitor

When you have two littles to look after, you’ll find that there are times where you have one with you and the other still in their crib or bassinet. That’s why having a baby monitor is an absolute must for twin parents.

Since the Infant Optics Baby Monitor doesn’t work off of wifi, you can be sure that no one will hack the monitor. It’s also super easy to use and has a high quality screen so you can see exactly what’s going on with your twinnies.

Swaddelini

Getting two newborn twins to naps and sleep overnight can go so much smoother with these simple, yet cozy Swaddelini sacks. The velcro makes them easy to adjust, and the material is ultra-soft for your tiny twinnie’s sensitive skin.

Sound Machine

The Hatch Baby Rest Sound Machine is a tech-lover’s dream. It connects to your smartphone for a perfectly customizable sleep experience, and it’s suitable for kids (and adults) of just about any age. Its soft glowing light is programmable to one of a variety of colors, and the time-to-rise feature is perfect for kiddos who have to wake up early for school. When fully charged, the battery can last up to 8 hours for on the go naps!

What are must-have feeding supplies for twins?

Dr. Brown’s Bottles Starter Kit

It’s pretty wild how many bottles are out there these days! But twin expert and certified lactation consultant, Natalie Diaz swears by Doctor Brown’s bottles. So why Dr. Brown’s? First, the shape of the Dr. Brown’s nipples closely mimic a mother’s natural nipple shape, making them an ideal option for parents who plan to nurse their twins. On top of that, their patented anti-colic inserts are a game-changer for keeping your babies from sucking down lots of air while they feed.

Expert twin registry recommendation: Most bottle kits come with size 1 or size 2 nipples by default. Size 1 nipples are typically a good match for breastfeeding babies, but you should consider buying a few preemie and size 0 nipples as well, especially if you will be bottle feeding frequently.

Kindred Bravely Sublime Hands-free Pumping and Nursing Bra

If you plan to nurse or pump for any amount of time, a quality nursing bra like this one is a must! The Kindred Bravely hands-free bra makes transitioning from nursing to pumping a breeze, even when your hands are tied managing both of your twinnies.

Twin Z Pillow

If you’ve talked to any other seasoned twin parents, you’ve likely heard them mention the Twin Z pillow! This multi-use pillow makes twin life easier in so many ways: nursing, tummy time, and a cozy spot for your twinnies to rest and give your arms a break.

I personally had two of these (one for upstairs, one for downstairs), and we used it from the very beginning all the way through early toddlerhood. I remember one of my twins actually pitched a fit when she saw me getting ready to give it away, it was that much part of our everyday life!

Table for Two Twin Feeding System

If you are going to splurge on a registry item, let this be the thing! Yes, I know we’ve already mentioned the amazingly versatile qualities of the Twin Z pillow, but when it comes to feeding your twins safely and conveniently, this dual feeding seat is so genius. Designed by a twin mom, it gives you a secure spot to safely feed both twins at the same time.

The expertly angled incline ensures the proper sitting position to help with easier digestion. Even if you’re nursing your babies, this feeding system is a huge help because babies should be held in an upright position for up to 15-20 minutes after breastfeeding or bottle feeding. The Table for Two also has an insert for smaller, preemie babies who are even more prone to reflux issues due to their immature stomach sphincter.

Baby Brezza Formula Pro and Bottle Washer

The Brezza Formula Pro and Bottle Washer Pro are must-haves for busy parents, making feeding and cleaning effortless. The Formula Pro mixes, heats, and dispenses formula at the perfect temperature in seconds, ensuring smooth, clump-free bottles with customizable settings for most formulas and bottle sizes. Complementing this, the Bottle Washer Pro cleans, sterilizes, and dries bottles, sippy cups, and baby essentials in one compact, efficient machine, simplifying your routine and keeping baby items spotless and ready to use.

What is the best car seat and stroller system for twins?

Baby Trend Snap-N-Go Double Stroller

This double stroller is lightweight, easy-to-use, and much more compact than a lot of other double strollers out there!

Zoe Twin Lightweight Double Stroller

Not all double strollers are made equal, so you’ll want to consider if a tandem or side-by-side stroller is best for you. But if you’re looking for a side-by-side double stroller, this is a highly rated one for twin parents.

It’s lightweight, making it great for taking the twinnies on errand runs. When you get the right adapter, it’s also compatible with popular infant car seat brands like Graco and Chicco.

Graco DuoGlider Double Click Connect Double Stroller

If you’re looking for a tandem double stroller, this Graco Double Stroller is an amazing option for your twinnies. It can be adjusted for rear-facing, forward-facing, and even for your twinnies to face each other.

Chicco KeyFit 30 Infant Car Seat

With infant twins, you will 100% want to have a portable infant car seat that you can snap in and out of your car and stroller. This makes traveling around with your twins as easy as possible.

The Chicco KeyFit 30 was rated the best infant car seat by twin parents in 2024. It’s great for use for babies 4 pounds up to 30 pounds (or 30 inches, whichever happens first) and has been expertly engineered for both safety and ease of installation. Better yet, it’s compatible with the Baby Trend Snap-n-Go Double Stroller we talked about above!

Graco Slim Fit 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat

This convertible car seat works for babies from 5 pounds all the way up to kids weighing 100 pounds. Needless to say, this car seat is in it for the long haul. So while it can’t be used with your double stroller, it’s still a great investment for when your twinnies outgrow their infant car seat or for having an extra car seat in a second vehicle.
